The Hospitality Collection is passionate about creating memorable experiences for their clients, whether that’s a break-away, conferencing or events. We asked Christiaan Nel, Director of Sales and Marketing, for some tips for other multi-property managers.


What makes The Hospitality Collection special?

The Hospitality Collection was established in 2014 to assist our very first guesthouse (Da Rosa Guest House in Wilderness) with marketing and reservations. Word of mouth is very powerful, and we now manage 1 luxury train and 24 establishments scattered all over South Africa. We’ve grown from a total of 3 rooms in 2014 to 422 to date, and still growing. Our aim is to have establishments in all areas in South Africa and soon Southern Africa. We grow and learn with our partners to offer a better and more competitive service in the market.

The other bonus of growing so much is that we’re now seen as a hospitality group and we qualify for discounted rates on hospitality services. Our guests will soon experience the same standard at any of our establishments and all establishments will undergo a brand audit according to The Hospitality Collection brand standards.


Why did you choose to use NightsBridge?


We used a manual system in 2014 and soon noticed that our team was struggling to keep up with all the different online platforms in the market. In 2015, we started our search to look for a reliable and affordable operating system to manage our establishments – including all online platforms. We compared several operating systems and decided to call NightsBridge. Our dedicated contact person at NightsBridge is Adriaan and he assisted us from the very beginning when we had only one property. The service, patience and training received is outstanding. A few times we’ve thought our requests would never be possible and then Adriaan phones to tell us: problem solved!

We used to login individually to all properties and can now login to NightsBridge as a group, so that we can switch between properties online. We are also very impressed with the continuing development of NightsBridge – especially the new link to GDS platforms. This was the last connection we required to make our offering to our clients more competitive and now we will be able to offer this service.

NightsBridge also helped us with our own group booking widget on our website, which helped us to generate more reservations from our website. Overall we are very impressed with the NightsBridge system and we will never look at alternatives because they cannot offer the same services. Our company runs smoothly on NightsBridge and we don’t need to monitor 24 hours because all reservations are automatically captured, which helps a lot with our workload! Our team can leave the office to look for more business, knowing that NightsBridge will take care of our reservations. If they need to have a look at availability, they can access live availability from the NightsBridge app on their mobile phones.

What’s the best tip you’ve learned about multi-property management?


We’ve learned over the years that communication with clients is key. Always revert back to clients as soon as possible to acknowledge their booking and confirm payment with an invoice. For multi-property managers, it’s particularly important not to neglect any of your properties: update all properties on all online platforms including NightsBridge/WETU at all times. Also, ask your NightsBridge representative about the group website widget, this will make a huge difference in your sales performance on your website!
